evelynn says...

As I was coming into her bedroom for bedtime cuddles,
"Mommy, your bum is so big so I left you a really big spot in my bed."
(thanks honey.)

I gave her edemame beans for a snack,
"Mommy, do you want one?"
"No thanks."
"Why?"
"Because they're not my favorite snack."
"But they should be. They have a mommy in the middle. Ede- Mommy beans."

I heard her singing in her bedroom one evening,
"I'm going to give the whole world a kiss because I love it soooo much!"

I often ask myself, "why am I keeping this blog"???
I sometimes feel guilty for not posting very often, and I don't have a lot of extra time to sit down and do a really good job at editing photos and writing out my thoughts very well. And I don't care too much about how many people read this blog.
But, I've come to think of this blog as our family's photo album. I am motivated to remember these beautiful moments that we experience, and to be able to look at them now and in the future.
And, writing and taking photos (however amateur they might be =) is a creative outlet for me. I feel satisfied when I am able to express myself creatively through pictures and words.
And ALL of my family live far away, so this blog is one way that we can stay more connected and feel closer than we actually are.
And, Evelynn and Maisy love to look through and see old pictures of themselves  =)
SO - this is why I keep at it. (This is mostly a reminder for me)
And on that note, here are some memories that I don't want to forget....

A not-so-uncommon occurance.

Evelynn and I love to dress up Maisy. It is hilarious because we laugh at her outfits and then she laughs because we laugh. Oh Maisy, you are a good sport. And Evelynn, you are such a good big sister. I cannot wait to see Evelynn with our next baby.

Ya know, just sitting on the stool drinking my smoothie all by myself like a big girl. No big deal.

This girl is all smiles. It is so easy to make her smile, and I love how much she makes me laugh.

Evelynn and her cousin Elizabeth love each other. They like to dress like twins a lot. I am grateful for her to have such a good friend in her life.

Have I mentioned that I love living in Vancouver!?!? This June, we will have lived here for 2 years. We feel at home here and I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Beautiful Evelynn. In this picture, she is singing something. She is always singing these days. Sometimes it's a song she knows and often she likes to make up her own songs. I love to hear her sweet voice.

Maisy is a little dare-devil. She isn't really scared of much. It is so fun to see her try new things and explore her independence. It also makes for lots of bumps and bruises =(
Again, I love this city! And I love that man with his girls.

Sweet Maisy Pearl - with a constant messy face, drippy nose and stained shirt. Your beautiful mess is evidence of your love for life and your adventurous personality.

Here are some pictures from our sunny, restful, enjoyable time in Palm Desert a few weeks ago...

On our way! The girls were awesome on the plane ride. I was definitely nervous about Maisy, but she was great.

Kisses! Maisy loves to give kisses...to anyone really. They are usually open mouthed, wet, sloppy and wonderful.

Only on vacation do we get to snack on Fruit Loops =)

The first day of swimming, Maisy was kind of whiney in the water. She didn't want us to hold her, and she didn't like the baby floaty contraption at all. Someone suggested that we put water wings on her, and as soon as we did- she was as happy as could be. She was so content to float around the pool all on her own.

Some of Scott's family took us on a hike called Ladder Canyon. The landscape of the desert was so beautiful.

This week we found out that we are having a BOY!
We were very surprised and very happy.
It feels like the perfect addition to our house full of girls =)
I come from a family of 2 girls and a boy, so I love that we get to experience the same dynamics in our family.
I took Evelynn to the park and I told her that Daddy was going to bring her a slurpee; a blue one if the baby was going to be a boy and a pink one if the baby was going to be a girl. When she saw the blue slurpee, she was equally excited about having a baby brother and getting to eat a slurpee.
We are so excited!

Disneyland

We recently got home from a wonderful 10 day holiday in Palm Desert, California. The sunshine was just what we needed. While we were there, we got to take Evelynn to Disneyland! It really was a magical day. We decided to leave Maisy with her Aunty and Uncle for the day, and it was such a treat to focus on Evelynn all day and do whatever her little 4 year old heart wanted to do. At the beginning of the day, I turned to Scott and said, "We are going to remember this day for the rest of our lives." And it's true. Getting to watch Evelynn take in the wonder of it all, was so much fun. I don't completely understand how, but experiencing something amazing for Evelynn is just as great as doing something for myself. I think I will chalk it up to one of the many mysteries of motherhood.
The pictures aren't awesome. I forgot to bring my nice camera with us =(  And also, if I take the time to edit these, they will never be on here! So here are our magical memories from our day.

Yes, I am still here.
It has been a while since I have written a blog post.
But, there is a good reason.
I promise that you won't be annoyed any more when I tell you my good news...

I am pregnant!!!!

I am 15 weeks along, and I feel so incredibly blessed to hold this miracle of life inside of me.
It is truly amazing how God creates a little baby, and I still smile every time I notice my tummy expanding.

Every once in a while, Evelynn will remember that I'm pregnant and she'll come over and rub my tummy and give the baby a kiss....ahhhh. It is so precious to share this experience with her this time when she is old enough to understand what is happening.
So far her favorite names for the baby are: Jack and Joey if it's a boy, and Alexandra and Daisy if it's a girl.

I actually feel really good these days. I think this has been my easiest pregnancy so far. I never felt too sick, which I am grateful for. I have had some really strange food cravings: burgers, pop, cheetos, eggo waffles, milk, meat, and candy. (could it be a boy???!!) If you know me, you know that I don't eat much of those foods, ever.
Thankfully, my old taste buds are coming back and I am starting to eat healthy again.

So, here we go.
Cheers to baby #3!

I leave you with the three loves of my life (minus love #4 - the orange-sized baby growing inside of me).

happy new year!

2012 was a good year. Here are some highlights from our year:

- In the spring, we took off to Palm Springs for a week. The week was full of sunshine, swimming, and lots of family time. It was relaxing and just what we needed.

- This summer we started officially meeting with a group of people who are helping us start a church. The first six months of this journey have been more challenging and wonderful than I could have guessed. I feel blessed to be doing this and I feel so grateful for the people who are doing it with us. And we finally chose a name; Trinity & Main is who we are.

- In September, we travelled to London for two weeks to visit my family. It is no secret that I love this city, and I was thrilled to explore it again. We met my beautiful niece for the first time. And we had some much needed time with my parents and my sister's family.

- Evelynn started preschool this fall. She goes 3 afternoons a week, and she loves everything about it; her teachers, the new friends, the structure, the new things she is learning, show and tell, the homework (?!) She is thriving, and I'm grateful she has this opportunity.

- This October, Evelynn turned 4. She is growing up so fast! I am so proud of who she is becoming. She is smart, hard working, creative, and she is developing a beautiful relationship with God.

- In November, our sweet Maisy turned 1. This blonde headed beauty brings us so much joy. She smiles all day long and she lets me kiss and hug all over her. She started walking at one, and she is into ev-er-y-thing. She loves reading books, and she loves her big sister, "eh-ee" (evie).

- Also in November, Scott and I were able to get away to Banff for a week, all by ourselves. We went there for a church planter's retreat, and it was a wonderful time for us to reconnect and talk and sleep and learn.

- In December, I turned 30! I think I am ok with this =) I am excited for what this decade will bring. I am thankful for what I have learned in my twenties, and I pray that I can grow even more in my thirties.

Alright, 2013.....let's do this....
