"funny may-me"

I'm feeling quite sentimental these days about Maisy losing her status as the "baby" of our family.
She is about to enter, "middle-child-land"; a land that I am very familiar with.
I feel pretty confident that she will ease into this new role fairly smoothly. However, I still find myself wanting to soak up these last couple of weeks with our baby Maisy.
She is funny, very sociable, always up for a good time, loves her big sis, "Ebie", gives the sweetest leg hugs all through the day, loves to eat carbs, gets very excited about, "pack-a-booms!" (popscicles),  does not like getting her diaper changed, loves reading books, and overall is such a pleasant and sweet little 22 month old.
Oh, and she loves babies.....like, really loves them. I have a feeling that she is going to be all over her new baby brother.

this beauty

look at this beautiful girl!
she is so wonderful and so complex.
i cannot believe i get to be her mommy.
it is, by far, the most rewarding and fulfilling role i have ever played.
thank you god for this little beauty.

You guys, I am two weeks away from my due date!
This makes me feel extremely excited and equally scared.
I am so ready to meet this little man and hold him in my arms and kiss his little face.
But I am also very aware of the realities of labor and all that I will experience while birthing this baby.
At this point, I am very uncomfortable and ready to do whatever it takes to not be pregnant anymore.
I love being pregnant and I know I will miss it. But I am also very uncomfortable and unable to do normal everyday tasks that I am ready to experience again (clip my toe nails, run or even just hurry, stand for long periods of time, bend over, squat, play on the floor.....)
I finally got a car seat today, and we are ready!
Mostly, I feel so grateful that our baby is still growing and healthy inside of me and I cannot wait to see him!

33 weeks

This week I am 33 weeks pregnant.
Also, this week we are moving.
Not the best combo, but we are doing it and I'm going to survive.
Why do we always seem to move when I'm really pregnant??!!
I'll definitely be drinking a couple more of these slurpees this week to help survive the heat and give me a temporary sugar high.
This was the first time we gave Maisy her own slurpee and she was very excited about it.
So, cheers to slurpees, being very pregnant and moving!!!

photo overload

I present you with a whole bunch of McT family photos...

She comes up with some truly amazing poses (and outfits!). I know one day we will probably enter a phase where she doesn't want her photo taken, so right now I treasure how easy it is to capture her personality on camera.

Every summer Main Street has a car-free festival. One of the booths was a ballet company, and they let Evelynn try on one of their real tu-tus. She was in ballerina heaven.

Maisy's first time eating cotton candy!

Scott has been playing on our church baseball team this summer. The girls and I love going out to his games.

Goofy girls playing dress up with Nani's amazing dress up box.

The last week of June, Evelynn graduated from preschool!
I am so thankful that she had such a positive experience with this preschool class. She loved going every time and she made some sweet friends that she always looked forward to seeing. Her teachers were so great and Evelynn really liked them. She brought a flower, weed, leaf, picture, bead, or craft for them almost every class.
Evelynn loved the social aspect of preschool, but she also thrived academically. The girl is smart! I was constantly amazed at how quickly she picked up on writing and math concepts and even reading. She is a bit of a, um.....shall we say...keener. I am so proud of how much she learned this year.
If you see her, ask her to tell you about Georgia O'Keeffe or Emily Carr or Vincent VanGogh, or the rain forest or the anatomy of the heart.

Her wonderful teachers, Rose-Ann and Danika.

Evelynn's best preschool buddy, Christain.

A special visitor, Elizabeth.

 And a proud Papa.

Evelynn was so excited that we got her a boquet of flowers just for her.

Who knew oranges could be so much fun?
