chalk & polish

All through the day, Evelynn asks to go outside. She points to the door and begs for me to take her outside. So I do. I love her and I love outside with her. Even when it's 7:00am and I'm bundled up in Scott's hoody because it's cold outside and I'm trying to eat my cereal while Evelynn mooches in-between every bite I take.

She didn't quite understand the idea of blowing the dandelion...

Aunty Ang came up for a visit recently, and she introduced Evelynn to the joys of nail polish.

Evelynn sat SO still the whole time Ang was painting her nails.

Ah! So cute! I love those chubby legs and those little chubby fingers with pretty red polish.

Ang - Please don't hate me for posting a picture of your foot! I just thought this pic was so cute!

I Love My View

Excuse me, this is my first Blog-Hi-jacking, but I've got something to say. So listen up...

As Aubyn's husband and Evelynn's dad, I just have to say I love my view! I get to witness things that no one else does. I see it all; the good AND the bad... and through it all I'm struck by how amazing a mom Aubyn is. She is fantastic! She is creative and thoughtful. She's energetic, flexible, resilient and strong. She is so full of love and with her heart so full she does so much! She's always making, fixing, cleaning, protecting, repeating, running, crouching, squatting, scratching, picking, wiping, putting-away, watching, laughing, disciplining, teaching, praying, dancing, singing... and she does it all while maintaining a beauty that still makes my eyes widen.

I can't fully explain just how wonderful a mom she is...
but i'll keep trying...
She is awesome! She's constantly putting Evelynn's needs above her own desire for food, sleep and general hygiene. I come home from work and am often pleasantly surprised at what craft or activity she's conjured up. I know that she is a big influence on the way Evelynn dances, jokes, looks, eats, knocks things over, loves, etc... I just hope and pray that Evelynn will catch her mom's pure-hearted, authentic spirit which is the reason I fell in love with her!

Here are some pictures that give you an idea of the view that I've been blessed with during the past year and a half... enjoy, be inspired, learn from one of the best, take notes, etc...
Here's to Aubyn, my favorite mom!

Thanks for watching,
Scott

I am loving this stage with Evelynn. I love that she makes us laugh all the time. It is so wonderful to see her personality coming out and she definitely has no lack of personality. She is talking so much these days! Some of her new words are: broccoli, hockey, bye-bye daddy, amen, Bible, star, E, purple and poo-poo.
She loves to color with crayons and play with playdough. She really loves dancing! She has these jerky awkward arm movements that she does whenever she hears music. She loves to eat frozen yogurt pops and brussle sprouts. She loves to pray......seriously. She loves exploring outside. She loves to brush her teeth and suck out all the toothpaste. She loves to try on my shoes. And as of yesterday (thank you Rooke) she loves to pick out her toe jam.
The thing she doesn't love the most is sharing her toys. We're working on that one.

Enjoying a delicious PBJ sandwich.

Well, Greater Vancouver Zoo....you were better than I thought. You exceeded my expectations- mostly because I kept my expectations very low, but my daughter loved your animals and your rocks, and because of that- I felt pleasantly surprised by all that you had to offer us on our first trip to see you.

When we first started exploring the zoo, Evelynn was mostly excited about all the rocks on the ground. She really likes rocks these days.

Then we started to see some cool animals...

.....we saw some monkeys....

...just a quick rehydration break in the middle of the sidewalk...

...then we saw the giraffes...

...and then Evelynn plopped down and fed some grass to the - uh- pig-like/armadillo-ish animal...

...then we picked some pretty flowers and smelled them...

...next we saw the llamas who were not shy at all...

...a little pony just her size...

...then Evelynn sat on the giant turtle. She was just as excited to see the fake animals as she was the real ones.

After a long, hot day at the zoo, Evelynn decided to just sit down and chill in the pathway.
