dandelion meadow

You know those days or moments when everything just feels right? When everyone is content and most happy exactly where they are? With five people in our family now, three of them being little, the odds of these moments are fewer than ever. Sure, we have great moments everyday. But the times when all five of us are just completely content seem to be a rare occurrence.
This evening was one of those times and I am so very grateful for it. The sun was out which was a major factor- for me especially. So we spontaneously decided to pack up a dinner and go on a picnic adventure. We threw in the bikes, the stroller, a blanket, the baby bjorn (just in case our picnic adventure led us through some seriously rough terrain), a soother, an assortment of picnic food, all of the appropriate condiments and plates and utensils, baby food, the baby spoon, a bib, sweaters (becuase- it's still April in Vancouver and it could always rain at any moment), an extra pair of underwear for Maisy who is %95 potty trained (but that other %5 can really ruin the moment), diapers, wipes, and I think that's about it.
But, this is the thing- even after the half hour that it took for us to gather the essential items needed to "spontaneously" go on a picnic adventure with a 5 year old, a 2 year old, and a 7 month old baby- we were all still in that content place.
We drove out to UBC, and searched for the perfect picnic location to accompany our perfect attitudes.
And then we found it- the most perfect meadow-ish field that was completely empty; just waiting for a family to spread out their blanket and enjoy it's offerings.
We ate, played chase, laughed with leo, rode bikes, picked flowers, and thoroughly enjoyed our little family adventure. These moments are a gift.
Evelynn named this place, "dandelion meadow", and I think we will be visiting this meadow again soon.
