these kids

An update on the kids:

Evelynn. I am so proud of who she is becoming. She is gentle, kind and very smart. She says that she wants to be a librarian and an author and illustrator when she grows up. She reads, and reads and reads. I just introduced her to one of my most favorite children's authors; Roald Dahl. After she read George's Marvellous Medicine, she said, "This book is so good! He should win an award for this one." I'll often find her curled up in a random spot around the house devouring her latest book. She also loves Jesus and asks a lot of questions about her faith which makes me so, so happy. She also really likes to write and draw. Her pictures usually involve princesses, animals, and flowers. We like to call her "Evie" or "Evie K".

Maisy. This girl has passion. Her highs are high and her lows are low. She requires the most of my attention and energy these days. She is a lover. She loves to hug and kiss and cuddle. She often has us laughing at her exaggerated facial expressions or her strange dance moves. Maisy also loves for me to read her books, and she always wants to sit on my lap. She lights up when people come over. She is also very thoughtful- the other day I found her helping Leo put his shoes on! We love to call her "Maisy girl" or "Maisy Pearl".

Leo. He is just the sweetest little guy. He is very happy and content for most of the day. I am really loving the experience of having a son. He loves trucks. A lot. And busses and airplanes and balls. He is talking so much these days. He can say almost anything we ask him to. Today I taught him to say dinosaur and I love you. He is very active, loves to throw things, jump and he loves dancing. He is a pretty tough guy. Usually when he falls (which is a lot) he just gets right back up and keeps on running. We like to call him "Leo boy" or "Leo the lion".

And a whole bunch of pictures....

10 years

Recently Scott and I got away without the kids to celebrate 10 years of marriage.
I am so grateful for this time we got to spend together. I love my husband and I feel so grateful to live this life with him.
Our week included a lot of really good food, eaten at anytime we preferred and without little moochers stealing bites. We stayed the first night in San Diego and loved walking along the beach. We ate at In and Out twice and contemplated a third burger, but I think it was good we stopped at two. We went on a beautiful hike and felt very young and energetic as we passed all of the seniors of Palm Desert. Scott's Uncle and Auntie graciously let us stay in their condo for a few nights. We swam a lot in their pool, watched a couple of movies and slept whenever we wanted.
Overall, it was very relaxing and good to spend so much uninterrupted time with each other.
